Elements and Performance Criteria
- Apply self-rescue
- Potential hazards when operating in moving water are identified and control measures are implemented
- Correct body position and techniques to survive and to minimise injury are adopted
- Opportunities and activities where others may be trying to assist with self-rescue are identified
- Communication is undertaken with others on the bank edge or vessel to assist with self-rescue
- Prepare for operations in or around flood and fastmoving water
- Safe and efficient operational activities are ensured by working and communicating with others through team work
- Hazards associated with operations are identified and risk assessment is undertaken
- Contribute to safe rescue operations in and around flood and fast moving water
- Appropriate techniques for safe operations from land, vessel and/or water are used, in accordance with organisational procedures
- Safety of self and others when undertaking rescue operations is monitored
- Communication with others is undertaken to assist with rescue operations
- Correct body position and techniques to survive and to minimise injury are adopted
- Opportunities and activities where others may be trying to assist with self-rescue are identified
- Communication is undertaken with others on the bank edge or vessel to assist with self-rescue
- Perform safe self-landing techniques
- After consideration of physical ability, type of craft and situational variances, method of landing is selected
- Safety of others when landing and/or re-entry to a vessel is ensured
